Senior VoIP Engineer

We are building a communication platform that brings together SMS, Voice, and marketing tools for businesses. We are now launching a new VoIP direction — A2P Voice, voice broadcasts, callback services, and multichannel routing. Our VoIP stack is being built from scratch, and we are looking for an experienced engineer to develop and support a scalable SIP/VoIP infrastructure based on OpenSIPS / Kamailio / Asterisk / FreeSWITCH. The role includes routing, billing, and API integrations.

Responsibilities

  • Design the architecture of the new VoIP direction: SIP infrastructure based on OpenSIPS/Kamailio or Asterisk/FreeSWITCH for high-load VoIP services in the cloud.
  • Develop custom routing and client management logic.
  • Connect operators and configure SIP trunks, including QoS, LCR, failover, optimization of ASR/ACD/PDD and routing.
  • Integrate VoIP services, develop API flows and routing logic.
  • Set up monitoring and alerting: SIP/RTP tracing, QoS metrics, channel stability.
  • Implement billing logic: rating, charging, tariff models, cost analysis and anomaly detection.
  • Participate in the roadmap and technical development of the VoIP platform, contributing to architectural decisions and team processes.
  • Automate deployments (Docker/K8s), scripting (Lua/Python/C), troubleshooting with Wireshark/sipp/tcpdump.
  • Support production systems 24/7, manage scaling and migrations.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of experience in VoIP/telecom.
  • Deep knowledge of SIP, RTP, codecs, NAT traversal, and routing.
  • Hands-on experience with at least one stack: FreeSWITCH / Kamailio / OpenSIPS / Asterisk.
  • Practical experience configuring SIP trunks, routing policies, failover, and QoS.
  • Experience in developing or configuring IVR, TTS/ASR, and voice campaigns.
  • Strong traffic analysis skills: ASR/ACD/PDD, SIP traces, RTP analysis.
  • Understanding of billing models and real-time charging principles.
  • Ability to independently build solutions from scratch and work with operators.

Nice to have

  • Experience launching VoIP infrastructure or products from scratch.
  • Understanding of CPaaS architectures (Twilio, Telnyx, Vonage, Infobip).
  • Experience working with Africa/Asia traffic and international operators.
  • Skills in voice fraud prevention and anomaly monitoring.
  • Experience with Alaris (SMS/Voice routing, billing, analytics).
  • Understanding of Voice Analytics, transcription, and speech technologies.
  • Experience with deployment automation (Docker/K8s), scripting (Python/Bash).
